Dance Me To The End Of Love
We are usually prejudiced against supermodels when they decide to express themselves artistically (in the world of music, cinema and literature). And usually our fears are proved right...
Sophie Dahl, is a surprising exception. She is a successful model, an angelic figure with a Victorian face and also the granddaughter of Roald Dahl. In her debut The Man With The Dancing Eyes one discovers that she is also a very promising new writer. My sister gave me this book some months ago and it hasn’t left my coffee table since.
Everything begins “In the golden half-light of a midsummer’s evening, the sort where any kind of magic can occur, and often does. In the midst of a party held in a wild and rambling garden, stood Pierre, teetering on highly unsuitable heels, surrounded by a symphony of overripe roses...”
A modern fairytale narrated with an old-fashioned voice. A brilliant love story, simple and original, accompanied by stunning drawings of the artist Annie Morris (some of these include my two favourite symbols: seahorses and sweetpeas).
A beautiful book to give to the ones you love (thank you sis!)
